If you needed another reason to start working on your online reviews and testimonials, Google has just added filters to the local search results that allow users to sort the listings by ratings. In the example below you can see the top listing has only one review and no star rating. Now that users have the option to sort listings by ratings, law firms with a high average rating can get more exposure.
Currently, clicking the rating filter will take users to a larger map results page and will show results based on the average rating selected by the user. This means a high average rating is more important the number of reviews- for now. I think we can expect to see further adjustments to this new feature as time goes by.
